Piggy
2026 | Duration 06:12 | Radio Poem

Piggy | Commissioned by Mirror Lamp Press x Culture File, RTÉ Lyric FM, 2026
This Mirror Lamp Press radio show explores voice, performance, and the politics of being heard, using the line “You talkin’ to me?” from Taxi Driver (1976) as a starting point. This phrase, somewhere between threat and theatre, evokes themes of performance, identity, the desire to be seen or heard, and miscommunication.
Piggy is an attempt at getting off the train at the right stop. It’s about human connection, greed, violence, and the desire to be seen. How does it feel to balance on the knife-edge between playful and threatening? Piggy will let you know.
TEXT EXCERPT [Full duration: 06:12]
Pull your nose up like a piggy and stare into the eyes of the postman as he delivers an order that you’ll return the same day
Same day delivery, same day return
Convenient life, convenient wife, they say
Juggle this, express that, espresso my package back to the really big warehouse
Express life, express wife, they say
