Lisa Freeman is an artist and filmmaker. Her films and performances draw into question economic and power structures and explore how intimacy might be employed as a form of resistance.
Recent awards include; Three Year Studio Award, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin (2023-), aemi & SIRIUS Film Commission Award 2023, Project Studio Award, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin (2022-23), Arts Council of Ireland Project Award (2022), Bursary Award (2023, 2022, 2020), Agility Award (2021) and Kildare County Council Artist Grant (2016-23). Her work is held in the Arts Council of Ireland Collection.
Recent projects include; a solo show Approx 1 Second of a Sweet Kiss at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin (2024), film screening’s at Screendance Film Tour, Salt Lake Film Society, Utah, USA (2024), Cork International Film Festival (2023), Festival ECRÃ, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2023), Súitú – aemi’s 2023 touring programme, which screened at WORM Rotterdam, Filmhuis Cavia Amsterdam, Galleri Format Malmo, Filmform Stockholm, The Model Sligo, Irish Film Institute Dublin, South Tipperary Arts Centre Clonmel, Belfast Film Festival and Cork International Film Festival (2022-23). She had an artist publication launch and film screening of Slipped at Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray (2022) and an online solo presentation on ‘aemi online’ (October 2022 – January 2023). She showed four days of site-specific performances Slipped, Fell and Smacked My Face off the Dance Floor, with Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, (2022) and Brows For Days as part of Unassembled, MA group show, The LAB Gallery Dublin, (2020). She has shown her work in; RHA Gallery Dublin, Somerset House London, Prenzlauer Kunst Kollektiv Berlin and Solas Nua Washington USA.
She completed a BA in Fine Art, CCAD, Cork (2015) and a MA in Art & Research Collaboration, IADT, Dublin (2020).
